What “detecting cheating” really means
Canvas isn't watching you. It's keeping a log. The difference matters: there's no algorithm that decides you cheated — there's a quiz log of how you behaved, and a human who may or may not read it. Detection is really interpretation of that log.

Everything above is standard Canvas. If your instructor turns on Proctorio, Respondus Monitor, or LockDown Browser, the rules change — those can record your screen and camera or lock your browser.
